Nobody rings a pest controller feeling relaxed about spraying their house. So here's the straight version rather than the brochure version.

Some of them we're not allowed to kill — and shouldn't.

Not everything that turns up uninvited is a pest, and Queensland law is specific about which is which. A technician who reaches for the same spray every time is either cutting corners or breaking the law.

  • Possums are protected wildlifeThey can't be harmed, and a trapped possum must be released within 50 metres of where it was caught. A one-way door and proper roof proofing is the only fix that lasts anyway.
  • Honey bees get a beekeeper, not a sprayA swarm on a fence post is usually resting and will move on by itself. If it's established somewhere it can't stay, we call a local apiarist to collect it. European wasps are a different animal and get destroyed.
  • Native birds are excluded, never baitedMesh, netting and spikes to keep them off solar panels and out of eaves. Poisoning native birds is illegal and we won't be talked into it.
  • We treat the target, not the gardenBaits and targeted application keep the product where the problem is. Blanket-spraying a yard takes out the spiders and predatory insects that were doing the job for free.

How much does pest control cost in Brisbane?
A general internal and external treatment for a standard three-bedroom house starts at $189 including GST. Termite inspections start at $275 and a pre-purchase building and pest inspection starts at $545. Larger homes, double storey properties and heavy infestations cost more — we confirm the exact price before starting, not after.
Is pest control safe for children and pets?
Used correctly, yes. Every product we apply is APVMA-registered and used strictly to its label rate. For a standard internal treatment, everyone can come back inside once surfaces are dry — usually two to four hours. Tell us in advance about aquariums, birds or reptiles so we can cover or relocate them, and we'll list every product used on your invoice.
How often should I get a termite inspection?
Australian Standard AS 3660 recommends a competent inspection at least every 12 months, and more often on high-risk properties. Brisbane's climate and soil put most of the south side in the higher-risk category, so we'd suggest annually as a minimum and every six months if you've had activity before.
Does home insurance cover termite damage?
Almost never. Termite damage is a standard exclusion on Australian home and contents policies because it's considered a gradual, preventable problem rather than a sudden event. That's precisely why regular inspections are worth the money — the inspection is the insurance.
What are the signs of termites?
Mud tubes running up stumps, piers or brickwork; timber that sounds hollow when tapped; paint that looks rippled or bubbled; doors and windows sticking in dry weather; and discarded wings on windowsills after a warm, humid night. If you see any of these, don't disturb or spray them — that scatters the colony and makes them harder to trace.
How long does a treatment take?
A general pest treatment on a standard house takes about 45 to 90 minutes. A full termite inspection takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on access. A building and pest inspection takes around two hours, with the report to you inside 24 hours.
How long before the pests actually go?
Cockroaches and ants usually drop away over 7 to 14 days, because baits work through the nest rather than killing on contact. You may see more activity in the first few days as they're flushed out — that's the treatment working, not failing. Bed bugs and German cockroaches need a scheduled second visit.
Do you offer a warranty?
General pest treatments come with a 12-month warranty and unlimited free callbacks in that period. Termite management systems carry the product manufacturer's warranty, up to eight years depending on the system installed and provided the annual inspections are kept up.
Do I need to leave the house during treatment?
Not usually. For most external and perimeter work you can stay home. For internal treatments we ask that you stay out of the rooms being treated until surfaces are dry. If anyone in the house is pregnant, asthmatic or chemically sensitive, tell us and we'll plan the job around it.
Can you remove possums?
Yes, and only in the way the law allows. Possums are protected wildlife in Queensland — they can't be harmed, and a trapped possum must be released within 50 metres of where it was caught. The real fix is a one-way door plus sealing the entry point, which is what we do.
Do you do pre-purchase building and pest inspections?
Yes. Timber pest inspections are carried out to AS 4349.3 with a photographic report back to you within 24 hours, which fits inside a standard Queensland cooling-off period. We'll also take you through the findings on the phone so you know what's serious and what's cosmetic.
